Newham is our neighbouring borough to the west, and the District and Hammersmith & City lines connect it straight to Barking — East Ham, Upton Park and Plaistow are all a handful of stops away. Stratford is further out but far better connected than the distance suggests, with the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, the DLR and the Overground all meeting there.
Stratford in particular sends us a specific kind of job: devices already taken to a high-street shop or a mall kiosk and handed back with a replacement quote. A kiosk can swap a screen or a battery. Repairing the logic board underneath — a failed power chip, a snapped USB-C port, corrosion after a spill — needs a microscope and a hot air station, and that is a different trade.
